VISION

A world in which all people have access to high-quality, culturally sensitive, and effective mental health care, community advocacy, and research.

MISSION

To expand access to psychiatric care for people of the African Diaspora.

In pursuit of our mission, we are committed to:

  • Fostering professional support and mentoring.
We seek to create a professional sanctuary for psychiatrists of African descent. We work to make mental health careers more rewarding for people of African descent by creating mentorship networks, providing educational seminars, and cultivating relationships for patient referrals and collaborative endeavors.
  • Increasing access to mental health services.
We seek to eliminate disparities in access, quality, and utilization of mental health services for people of African descent and all people who are underserved. We advocate using technology to facilitate the delivery of mental health care, including preventive care, to underserved communities.
  • Promoting cultural proficiency.

We respect the unique racial and spiritual heritage of all people and use this knowledge to provide culturally sensitive care. We actively pursue opportunities to educate others about the diversity and history of the African Diaspora.

  • Encouraging community advocacy.

We support the development of policies that address social inequalities which contribute to racial disparities in health. We seek to empower communities to advocate for resources.
